One Busy Ant is taking the lead in clearing out the tunnel. The other ants are chowing down on a piece of pear. And it was evening and it was morning, day 1.

We set up a new Ant Farm (which took about a month to receive). The ants were a little too live coming out of their testtube when I tried to spill them into the farm, so some of them had to be mashed inside… some survivors are missing body parts.

A recent visit to the local Barnes and Noble was almost as good as a trip to the pet store. On the Young Adult table were no less than four books with goldfish on the cover.
- Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt;
- Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper;
- Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan; and
- The Fourteenth Goldfish by Jennifer L. Holm
I read the last two and liked Counting by 7s the most.

Next to a 224Q school in Queens there is a working farm (Queens County Farm Museum). I stopped by the other day and took some photographs of the lifestock. That is the school in the background.
There were cows, horses, ponies(?), pigs and chickens. Wht do you think about the chickens in the tree? Pretty disturbing….
